I walked about 6,500 km across Australia, from Carnarvon to Sydney, over two and a half years.
At first, this journey did not have a clear purpose. In Australia, many people asked me, “What are you walking for?” And each time, I answered honestly:
“I don’t know yet. But I know I’m walking because I want to become a hero.”
That was how I truly felt at the time.
Back when no one knew me yet, while I was walking from Carnarvon to Perth, the journey was often very difficult. But during that time, children looked at me with such pure eyes and said, “Go, my hero,” and some of them even gave me drawings they had made for me.
Their encouragement saved me many times and gave me the strength to keep going.
By the time I reached Perth, I started to feel that I wanted to do more than just follow my own dream. I wanted to support children who are fighting illness.
That is how this journey began to grow into fundraising for children with cancer. What began as a journey without a clear purpose became a journey with meaning, thanks to the children who encouraged me along the way.
